Caretaker Sindh Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadies and Spatial Development, Syed Saleem Ahmed Zaidi, has directed all the 18 towns of Karachi to chalk out a viable strategy for lifting and disposing of offal from their respective jurisdictions on the eve of Eid.
This he directed while presiding over a meeting of Town Municipal Officers (TMOs) of Karachi at his office here on Monday. Special Secretaries Local Government Laeeq Ahmed and Dr Sikandar Panhwar were also present on the occasion.
Provincial Caretaker Minister said that for lifting offal from inner streets, small vehicles and trolleys should be arranged. He also directed cancellation of all leaves of staff, particularly employees of sanitation department during Eid days.
He said that special reporting centres with telephone numbers should also be established. These centres should work round-the-clock to facilitate masses.
Syed Saleem Zaidi asked the towns to arrange trenches where offal should be buried to acquire good quality fertiliser after six months. He directed for taking KWSB on board so as to ensure smooth flow of all sewers and drains. Officers should personally monitor the cleanliness initiative during all three days of Eid, he further directed. He directed them for making special cleanliness arrangements around mosques and Eidgahs to facilitate the worshipers.
