Flour smuggling to Afghanistan has been made virtually impossible by stringent security measures at various crossing points on the Pak-Afghan border, Director General Frontier Corps Balochistan Major General Saleem Nawaz said on Wednesday.
Talking to PTV he vehemently denied the impression created by what he called "some vested elements", flour scarcity in the country was the result of rampant smuggling to Afghanistan.
Referring to Chaman border crossing where at least 8,000 to 10,000 people daily cross over, he said it had been made impossible to move even a tiny quantity of grain illegally across the frontier. He said cross-border movement of people was a routine as split families lived in border areas of both the countries.
