Governor Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (retd) has said that to cope with cultural invasion, we should have to strengthen our cultural values among youth and to initiate new degree programmes of Rural Art, Performing Art and Folk culture at university level.
Addressing the Punjabi, debate ceremony organised by Directorate of Student Affair's in collaboration with office of the Senior Tutor University of Agriculture, Faisalabad as a chief guest at Iqbal Auditorium here on Wednesday morning, he said that government is utilising all resources to promote education in the country.
He maintained that Punjab government has focused this sector with more resources. Khalid Maqbool lauded the educational standard of UAF and said that this university is a role model for rest of universities in the country. Governor Punjab, emphasised the student's to focus on their studies and keep themselves away from the political and negative elements who are striving for destructive activities in the country.
He asked the scientists to utilise their utmost efforts to make Pakistan green and prosperous. He stressed the need for post harvest and value addition technologies to maximise the export potential.
Vice Chancellor UAF, Professor Dr Bashir Ahmad in his welcomed address highlighted the main features of university and said that sub-campuses have been opened in Toba-Tek Singh and Depalpur where as Home Economics college for women is to be inaugurated at Ghulam Muhammad Abad in near future. Dr Bashir Ahmad while giving brief on "Punjabi" language said that Sufi's and Saint's spread Islam and love with this sweet language.
Dr Bashir Ahmad said that Punjabi debates and "Mushaira" will lead us towards better understanding of our mother language. He urged that Punjabi language should be taught at Primary School in Punjab province.
Professor Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, UAF thanked the guests, audience and students to participate in debate competition. He revealed that a Folk Musical Festival will be held at UAF in which our Rural Culture would be presented very soon. A large number of students from various universities of the country attended the inaugural session.
