Construction of Cyclotron Bunker at SKMH&RC starts

The groundbreaking ceremony of Cyclotron Bunker's construction and installation of PET SCAN at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (SKMH&RC) was held here the other day. The ceremony was performed by a regular donor of SKMH&RC, Naseem Rasheed. Other members of her family and the hospital's management were also present.
Shaukat Khanum Hospital's Chief Executive Officer, Dr Faisal Sultan said that the hospital had always striven to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of oncology to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients. He said the construction of Cyclotron Bunker would cost Rs 25 million and take six months time to complete.
Faisal also said this PET SCAN, costing approximately 250 million rupees, is the most modern equipment with a very high utilitarian role in the detection and diagnosis of the smallest cancer at the very initial stage.
This machine's presence will definitely improve and facilitate cancer treatment. He said that after the installation of this equipment, Shaukat Khanum will be the country's only hospital to have this machine. He praised the motivation of hospital's donors who are helping the Hospital in purchase of this modern equipment and construction of the Bunker. He expressed hope that more people will help the hospital in this worthy cause.
