Due to waves of winter cold across the country, the consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has shot up by 300 tonnes to 2,000 tonnes per day use, said Abdul Hadi Khan, chairman, LPG Distributors Association, in a press release on Wednesday.
Addressing members of the Association, he suggested that Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro and the petroleum ministry to provide LPG to consumers on subsidised rates, as had been done for diesel so the people, who were not financially able to afford the commodity, could also utilise it in the winter.
Abdul Hadi Khan expressed fears that mafia in the LPG sector could take undue advantage of gap between supply and demand during the winter which could badly hurt the consumers for its shortage or availability on increased prices.-PR
