The Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Additional IG, Malik Muhammad Iqbal has directed the divisional SPs to constitute special raiding teams to take stern action against the revellers and persons found involved in aerial firing on the eve of the Christmas and New Year.
Iqbal in a circular issued on Thursday addressed to the DIG Investigation, SSP Operations, Divisional SPs, SPOs, SHOs and Incharge Investigations, asked to collect information about the drug pushers, illicit arms carriers, bootleggers and indigenous alcoholic beverage units functioning in the city peripheries and ordered prompt action against them.
He further directed the officers to get information about New Year functions were going supposed to be held, so that immediate action could be taken against persons involved in fireworks and aerial firing. He warned that nobody would be allowed to display arms on these occasions.
Iqbal also asked the Divisional SPs to personally monitor the performance of the force under their command and submit report on daily basis. "In case of any negligence or mismanagement action would be taken not only against the SHO and the Incharge Investigation but explanation would also be sought from the concerned SPO," he added.
