Qazi to remain MMA president: Sajid Naqvi

15 Dec, 2007

Vice President of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Allama Sajid Naqvi has said that Qazi Hussain Ahmad will continue to be MMA President despite the differences among the alliance components over the poll boycott issue.
Talking to a private TV channel he said that the boycott of election by the JI Amir and MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad is his views as four of five component parties of the alliance are favouring participation in the coming polls.
To a question he said that a meeting of MMA Supreme Council was to be held to decide about the elections boycott but was cancelled. Later, the meeting was held because some component parties of the MMA wanted to contest elections and they wanted permission from the alliance, he added.
Sajid Naqvi said that now the registered parties of the MMA are five and four were present in the meeting except JI. All the four parties, he said, unanimously decided to go to the polls.
