The Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Agency (Erra) will start livelihood project in 86 union councils in the earthquake-affected districts of NWFP. This was told in a first meeting of the Provincial Livelihood Working Group held here on Friday, which was chaired by Erra Planning and Technical Director Zubair Asghar Qureshi.
Erra Provincial Livelihood Co-ordinator Jehan Sher, Erra Advisor Agriculture and Livestock Munawar Khan and Erra Senior Livelihood Officer Shakaib Ahmed in their presentations, while updating the participants about the progress of the project, said this multi-billion rupees project would be unique of its kind where community itself would identify their needs.
They said the project would be implemented and executed by the concerned community itself. The meeting was aimed at to make co-ordination more effective with the line departments and implementing partners. The stakeholders of the project ensured their full support to make the project in the rehabilitation of livelihood a successful.
The participants of the meting share the terms of reference of the Livelihood Working Group. They also hailed the role of Erra in the earthquake-affected areas of NWFP. Country Director, Relief International, Chief Conservator Forest, Director General Agriculture Research, Director Water Management and Manager Livelihood Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) attended the meeting.
