Within a day or two of the breaking away of the Opposition parties alliance, APDM, the religious parties alliance, MMA, has also whithered away in the thin air. This is not something to be appreciated and welcomed as this is indeed a sad commentary on the pattern of the national politics and how the political and religious parties work.
As of the latest, Jamaat-e-Islami and Qazi Hussain Ahmad are out of the MMA and the remaining component parties topped by Maulana Fazlur Rahman's own faction of JUI are now going to contest the election. Now the MMA is going to have new head out of the remaining parties while Maulana Fazlur Rahman would retain the all important office of the religious parties alliance as the Secretary General.
Earlier, PML(N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif was being blamed for breaking of the ARD, founded by the late veteran politician Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan. Now, the polls participants and boycotters stand divided and out of the APDM and MMA component parties.
If the political or religious parties alliances, electoral or otherwise, cannot survive in difficult and challenging times and circumstances then why form the same at all?
