Gadhafi ends French visit, heads to Spain

16 Dec, 2007

Libyan leader Moamer Gadhafi left Paris Saturday and headed for Spain, after facing a barrage of criticism during his visit to France over past links to terrorism and accusations of ignoring human rights. Gadhafi boarded the Libyan airliner Ifriqyiah for Seville, where he will spend two days on a private visit in southern Spain before official talks in Madrid on Monday and Tuesday.
The former international pariah was given the red carpet treatment at the airport upon his departure, just as when he arrived last Monday, igniting criticism over President Nicolas Sarkozy's decision to welcome Kadhafi to Paris for the first time in 34 years.
