The Inspector General Punjab Police Ahmad Nasim has directed all the RPOs CPOs and DPOs to ensure foolproof security arrangements for maintenance of law and order on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha across the province.
In a directive issued here, the IGP maintained that in view of the importance of this day well-thought-out security plans be chalked out by the field officers to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists and anti-social elements in their respective areas.
The DPOs must take their own initiatives to forestall all such nuisance and check any untoward incident in order to avert any mishap and for this purpose they should prepare special security plans for their respective districts.
Well-equipped sufficient force be made available in the form of on-foot and mobile units while plain clothed contingents be deployed for "Eid Prayers" and "Eid Days".
The duty at Mosques, Imam Bargahs, Eidgahs should be given special attention and the staff deployed at such places be properly briefed to remain vigilant in order to avert the possibility of any terrorist act.
Moreover, places like bazaars, trade centres, bus stops, lorry addas, railway stations, car parking stands and other public places of such nature may also be given priority with particular reference to thwart any attempt of terrorism and sabotage. Besides, the effective patrolling system, the sufficient force equipped with metal detectors mobile scanners be deployed on such places.
The IG also directed the DIG Traffic to chalk out special traffic plan for this occasion, in order to save the public from any inconvenience. Special Teams comprising traffic police personnel should take adequate measures for the convenience of commuters and checking of accidents on highways.
