Manipulation in election may lead to chaos: Khosa

Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarian (PPP-P) leader Senator Latif Khosa has said that President Musharraf could be impeached with two-third majority. Addressing a news conference here on Sunday, he said manipulation of elections could plunge the country into deep crisis which would be a great blow to the reputation of the country.
Latif Khosa appealed the international community to stop the government interference in the election process. He also asked the government to provide conducive atmosphere to PPP candidates in Balochistan.
He said with the lifting of emergency, the Constitution should be restored in its real spirit. He said the amendment incorporation in the Constitution by President Musharraf has disfigured the it. He said it is for the first time in world history that the amendments can not be challenged in any court or Parliament, which is tantamount to attacking the supremacy of the Parliament.
Senator Latif Khosa alleged police that they are pasting posters of 'cycle' symbols on the walls and the news in this regard have been published in the papers. When we lodged complaints with the Election Commission, they said that police are removing the posters.
He said the attitude of police reflects their support to PML-Q and the slogan of holding free, fair elections proved wrong. PPP leader said that President Musharraf, the Punjab governor and forme Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi are addressing the election meeting of Tahir Bashir Cheema in Bahawalpur which purely negate the concept for free and fair election.
He said in Balochistan, the PPP candidate from PB-24, Sarfraz Bugti, was arrested by Police on November 18 and despite Election Commission orders he could not file the nomination papers. He said the proposer and seconder were badly beaten up by Police.
Latif Khosa also demanded ending to military operation in Balochistan and provide freedom to the people to participate in the election.
Ghulam Qadir Bugti father of Sarfraz Bughti demanded provision of conducive atmosphere to the candidates and ending of agencies activities in Balochistan. He said attention of international agencies and the embassies was drawn towards ending government interference in the elections. To a question, he said the PPP will not compromise with the dictator and will not share power with him.
