A consultative mission of Asian Development Bank for Sindh Public Management Programme on Monday met the Secretary Excise and Taxation Muhammed Naseer Jamali, at his office here.
During the meeting discussions centered on strengthening Fiscal and Public Management in the province of Sindh, the implementation arrangements and technical assistance in this regard. Naseer Jamali and Director General, Excise and Taxation Muhammed Marghoob Siddiqui briefed the mission about the role and significance of the department in Revenue Resources of Sindh.
The mission was informed that the department is contributing over Rs 8000 million to provincial exchequer with a target of about Rs 9,500 million set for fiscal 2007-2008 under thc Heads of Infrastructure Cess, motor vehicle tax, provincial excise duty, professional tax, hotel tax and cotton fee etc.
They said areas where technical assistance is required for the purpose of reforms and improvement were also discussed on the occasion. The ADB mission comprised Emma X. Fan, Senior Public Resource Management Specialist and Mujib Sadozai, Consultant.
