PPP (Human Rights Wing) and Election Monitoring Cell incharge Senator Muhammad Latif Khosa has said "we have collected sufficient evidences against the Nazimeen, former federal or provincial ministers and these would be submitted to Chief Election Commissioner as well as foreign and national media.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday Khosa said he visited the election commission offices on Thursday (December 20) reminding the CEC about the pending complaints of his party.
According to him Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has refused to take an immediate action against any one of the incumbent District, City District, Town and tehsil Nazimeen being accused of manipulating the elections, using funds and staff for the election campaign of PML-Q candidates. "There is no question of taking immediate action though we have asked the District Returning Officers (DROs) for submission of their reports after thorough investigations at the district level," ECP official told Khosa.
In response to a question, they said that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) would be able to determine whether or not to take action against the respective Nazim only after receiving the report of the concerned DROs.
"What we believe in general that the allegations of manipulating the elections are merely a part of the electoral war going on between the political parties, and therefore the action cannot be taken till solid evidences is accepted by the DROs," the officials further said.
According to the sources, City district Nazim of Multan Mian Faisal Mukhtar, ex-Town Nazim of Shershah (Multan) Abbas Akbar Mohni Shah, Former Punjab Minister for Social Welfare Rai Mansab Ali Khan whose son is Town Nazim of Shah Rukn-e-Alam , Jacobabad Nazima Saeeda Soomro, Rawalpindi Nazim Javed Akhlas and mostly from Punjab province are amongst those against whom Pakistan People's Party had moved complaints before the commission. To another query, the sources said that the CEC is very much competent to take action against those involved in the manipulation acts. "We have sent almost all such applications to the DROs without giving any deadline for reply on their part."
Meanwhile, when approached the ECP Secretary Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad said the CEC would definitely take action against the Nazimeen if found involved in favouring some candidates and targeting other ones in line with the reports of the DROs.
"No deadline can be given to the DROs," he added. He maintained that the district returning officers are the appropriate forum for the candidates to submit the complaints against the local administration personnel. "We have also forwarded all the applications of the PPP and other parties to the concerned DROs." "We have sought reports from the DROs and definitely it will take time." When asked about the number of applications the commission has so far received, the secretary said that all of them have been moved to the DROs with clear directives to them for submission of their findings within the shortest possible time.
