As many as 28 candidates are contesting on 5-National Assembly and 81 candidates on 11-Punjab Assembly seats in Sialkot district. According to a survey, the election fever is on rise in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district with rivals flexing their political muscles and diligently wooing voters to win their maximum support.
The Eid-ul-Azha was converted into election campaign by the contestants and they preferred to visit in their constituency for begging votes. Candidates belonging to various political parties contesting on National and Provincial Assembly seats are holding corner meetings and highlighting the salient features of their party manifestos for obtaining maximum votes in the election.
The supporters and party workers are busy in fixing posters, election symbols and banners on prominent places to attract the voters in four tehsils of the district.
The fast approaching election would be interested as some prominent and vocal political personalities including President PML-Q Choudary Shujaat Hussain is contesting from NA-112 Sialkot while the traditional rivals like the Speaker National Assembly Choudary Amir Hussain and Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan would face each other in NA-111 Sialkot.
