'430,000 transparent ballot boxes reach ECP district headquarters'

As many as 430,0000 transparent ballot boxes, made in China, have reached at all district headquarters of the Election Commission of Pakistan for the Elections-2008, Secretary Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad said on Monday.
Talking to PTV, he said the commission is making all-out efforts to hold the upcoming elections in free, fair and impartial manner, adding use of transparent ballot boxes is part of that endeavour.
For the first time in the country's history 430,000 transparent ballot boxes were imported from China. More than 300,000 voting screens have also been provided to all polling stations across the country to enable voters to cast their votes in a completely secure and private environment, he said.
Besides, computerised rolls has been prepared and provided to all political parties, which is also available on CDs at all district headquarters, he added. Kanwar said about 450,000 polling personnel have so far completed their training for holding the elections in a smooth manner.
