The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Wajid Ali said that Jehangir Pitankhi road has been declared one way with the view to ease heavy flow of vehicular traffic on the road. According to a press release, the road has narrow lanes where vehicles have been flooded from both sides, which causes traffic congestion and hindrance in the smooth flow of vehicles.
Therefore, concerned department has taken immediate measures under section 78 of the motor vehicles ordinance-1965 to ease traffic flow on this narrow road in the interest of public safety, it added. This exercise has been taken due to special notification by home department to declare Jehangir Pitankhi road as one way.
The traffic will only flow on this road from Jameela Street (Old Jublee cinema intersection) towards Agha Khan IIIrd road (Old Garden road). The contravention of this order will be punishable under the motor vehicles ordinance 1965.-PR
