25 Dec, 2007

Former minister for railways, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that people have understood the wrong and right and they are the 'best judge' to elect right people in upcoming general elections. Sheikh Rashid, a PML-Q candidate in NA-55 and 56 stated this while addressing public meetings held at different places of the two constituencies.
Rashid led a rally, which started from Lal Haveli and after passing through different areas culminated at Fawara Chowk. PML-Q candidates for provincial assembly Chaudhry Adnan, Rashid Hafeez and Zohaib Afridi also attended the rally and public meetings.
He said that although some people dislike the aggressive policies of President Pervez Musharraf but it is a reality that wisdom and statesmanship of Musharraf saved Pakistan on various occasions. Prudent policies of Musharraf have put Pakistan on the path of socio-economic development and brought it out of bankruptcy, he added.
He said that the PML-Q would win the general elections with majority on the basis of its performance during its five year tenure in power. "We must realise the changes in international scenario especially in this region and follow the track to remain alive in community of nations," Rashid added.
He said that the recent suicide attacks have jeopardised the election campaign of all political parties but people would show their sensibility in the polls and would vote for those candidates who are really sincere to them.
Rashid said that during last five years many mega projects in Rawalpindi were launched because of his personal efforts. He added many projects are in the pipeline including Nullah Lai Expressway, Flyover on Murree Road, Rail linkage between twin cities and water supply line from perennial Ghazi Barotha Canal.
Rashid said that he would reply to propaganda being carried out against him in the city during the public rally at Liaquat Bagh adding that if the people are with him, then he has no fear of any kind of misleading tales being spread by some elements in his opposition. He said that media has enhanced the intellect among the people and they would definitely give their verdict in favour of those candidates who did something for them in the past.
