Federal Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burney has ordered an inquiry into newspaper reports about alleged torturing of President Supreme Court Bar Association Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan. Talking to newsmen at his office on Monday, Burney said that such things bring bad name to the country and serve as a blot on a civilised society.
He expressed concern over reports of manhandling of Aitzaz Ahsan and said that those involved would be taken to task after inquiry. However, he said, it would be more regrettable if these reports proved incorrect because such political tactics do not serve the interests of country and nation. The federal minister told a questioner that all incidents, which negate Human Rights are condemnable and effective steps are being taken to check such things.
