SHC allows Pir Mazhar, Salam Thaheem to contest elections

Three-member full bench of High Court of Sindh on Monday, hearing appeals against the decisions of an Election Tribunal, allowed Pir Mazharul Haq and Abdul Salam Thaheem of Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians to contest general elections on PS-74 and PS-83 respectively.
Whereas, the bench rejected an appeal of PPPP candidate on NA-251 Saeed Ghani and upheld the decision of an Election Tribunal barring him from contesting the general elections. The bench comprised SHC Chief Justice, Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro, Justice Mehmood Alam Rizvi and Justice Ms Qaisar Iqbal. The bench adjourned the hearing of the appeals of Dr Fahmida Mirza and others till December 26.
The bench also issued notice once again to the Administrator Examinations, University of Sindh for December 27, 2007 and directed him to appear with complete academic record of Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, son of former prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi. Zulfiqar Ali Bheem has filed an appeal challenging the degree of Jatoi.
