Funeral prayer in absentia of Benazir offered

Hundreds of people attended funeral prayer in absentia of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto offered at MCC ground in Multan, while lawyers also offered funeral in absentia of the slain two-time premier at district court here on Saturday.
People from all walks of life mainly activists of different mainstream political parties traders, lawyers and representatives of civil society attend the funeral prayer.
After offering the prayer, the participants took out procession to protest the assassination of the national leader. They resorted to full-throated sloganeering against the govt and president Musharraf. They demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrators of the heinous act.
The protestors demanded of President Pervez Musharraf to step down immediately. Heavy contingent of police kept on guard until the mourners dispersed peacefully.
PPP leaders, Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan former federal Law Minister, Khalid Hanif Lodhi, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Salim-ur-rehman Mayo, Dr Javed Siddiqui, Khawaja Rizwan Alam and Tariq Raza Khan led the demonstration.
