Benazir's murder a conspiracy against federation: Khar

31 Dec, 2007

Former leader of Pakistan People's Party Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar expressed heartfelt condolence on the tragic death of Benazir Bhutto, terming it conspiracy against the federation. Talking to newsmen, he said, someone in fact exploded bomb in the foundation of Pakistan and "someone has targeted the very root of the country."
"My mind is in a state of shock and I cannot believe that she is gone," he said, adding her death is a tragedy in national history. He was of the view that a leadership vacuum has emerged in national politics, which is not expected to be filled in the near future. He said that after Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed, her death was irreparable loss.
He said, "it is good omen that Pakistan is not facing serious threats from outside." Replying to a question he said that Asif Ali Zardari might prove himself a courageous leader by his ability if he was chosen as the new party leader. It was premature to call Zulfikar junior a substitute of Benazir since he is too young to take on the responsibility.
