Homage paid to Benazir

Quran Khawani and special prayers were held in Lahore and other parts of Punjab province on Sunday for the salvation of slain chairperson of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto, which was attended by thousands of people.
In Lahore, Quran Khawani was held at Bilawal House, Shahbagh Ground and other places in which PPP and other political workers and people from all walks of life participated in a large number.
On the occasion, glowing tributes were paid to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for her services for the country as well as nation. The PPP activists and other people also held Quran Khawani at the shrines of Baba Shah Jamal, Hazrat Mian Mir and Shah Hussain for the eternal peace of Benazir soul.
Workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf offered funeral prayers in absentia for Benazir at the party's office in Lahore. Later they held Quran Khawani for her salvation.
According to reports reaching here, Ghiabana Nemaz-e-Janaza was offered in various parts of the province including Multan, Gujranwala, Komoki, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Rajanpur, Sahiwal, Kasur, Sargodha, Khushab, Vehari, Jhang, Bhakkar etc. After offering funeral prayers in absentia, Quran Khawani was followed.
Moreover, after two days of complete shutter down and wheel jam, life in Lahore is inching back to normalcy, as petrol pumps, small shops, medical stores and other services have started re-opening. However, due to Sunday, all the markets and business centers remained closed.
Vegetables and fruits were supplied from 'Mandi' to different areas in the city on Sunday, while the milk supply has also been restored. Police and rangers, however, remained alert at important public and private buildings.
