'January polls more than likely'

Pakistan's January 8 general election is "more than likely" to be delayed by six to eight weeks, a senior official of the former ruling party, which backs President Pervez Musharraf, said on Sunday.
"It seems more than likely that elections will be delayed," said Tariq Azim Khan, a senior official of the PML-Q party, which ruled until a caretaker government was set up last month. He said he expected a six to eight week postponement. The EC is holding an emergency meeting on Monday, when it is expected to decide on the timing of the vote in the wake of the killing of Benazir.
