Optimum help is being extended to the cottage industry to promote this neglected sector, said Provincial Minister for Industries, Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi on Monday.
Roomi, who has been elected as President of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) unopposed, said that 32 acres have been earmarked for setting up small and medium enterprises at the Multan Industrial Estate.
After taking oath of his new office, he said this move would help provide employment to the skilled workers and artisans of Multan, which is famous for its ancient blue pottery and Kashi Gari (a painting design).
Jalaluddin Roomi said small investors can get plots of area 10 marla to six kanals for setting up small industries at the industrial estate. The minister was informed that a Bridal Fair is being organised at Dubai on February 28, this year where products relating to brides will be displayed.
"Ten stalls will be set up by Pakistan including two for Multan at the Dubai fair. Women entrepreneurs may also participate in the fair", he added. Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi and Vice President Adnan Ahmed donated Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 for the chamber respectively.
