'False FIRs to be withdrawn'

02 Jan, 2008

Caretaker Sindh Home Minister Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd) has taken notice of alleged wrong registration of FIRs against political workers for their involvement in recent disturbances.
The political workers and people from all over the province had contacted the home minister regarding registration of FIRs against them and informed him about the actual situation.
Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd) assured all political workers, people and their relatives that no injustice will be allowed to be done to innocent political workers and other people. He said the FIRs registered in connection with the recent disturbances would be reviewed and those found frivolous would be withdrawn.
He asked the workers and people, who had a grievance that FIRs have wrongly been registered against them, to contact the home department so that their complaints are redressed. Talking to IGP Sindh at his office, Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd) said the elements found involved in violence, arsoning, destruction and causing damage to public, private properties and lawlessness would not be spared.
He observed that political workers never get involved in such acts but this is done by elements having vested interests who take advantage of such situations and indulge in loot and plunder under cover of protest. He said stringent action is being taken against such elements and no pressure or favour in their cases will be accepted.
