National Peoples Party (NPP) has welcomed the nomination of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the new Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as per will of its slain leader, Benazir Bhutto.
While talking to newsmen on Wednesday, NPP chief Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi said that his party would extend full support to Asif Ali Zardari, as he would be responsible to manage the affairs of PPP after the tragic demise of his spouse and party chairperson Benazir.
The veteran politician expressed the hope that the PPP being a symbol of federation and acting upon the political legacy of PPP would strive for saving the country from the present situation of social and political turmoil. He paid tributes to Benazir terming her a true national leader, who had been ever courageous enough to face death but never compromised on her principles in favour of democratic and constitutional rule in the country. He said the nation was suffering an irreparable loss on being deprived of a devoted and committed national-level leader.
Jatoi whose party is otherwise firm on its decision to boycott the scheduled January 8 general elections, warned the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against likely putting off the election schedule.
