Professor Kamran new Punjab University vice chancellor

Governor Khalid Maqbool has named Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran as the Punjab University vice chancellor following a recommendation by the Higher Education Commission's vice chancellor's Search Committee. Professor Kamran was serving as Department of Physics chairman.
The governor made the announcement at the Institute of Bio-Chemistry and Bio-Technology auditorium, where faculties' deans, constituent colleges' principals, directors, academic department's chairmen were also present.
The governor said the HEC's Search Committee had strongly recommended that Professor Dr Kamran be appointed as vice chancellor. He said the Punjab government had advertised the post at the national and international level and Professor Kamran was selected from around 50 top academicians, who had applied and appeared in interviews before the committee chose one.
The governor also praised the role of Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Butt for his short stint as vice chancellor. Professor Dr Kamran thanked the governor for taking a prompt decision on merit.
"The Punjab University will now on produce academic leaders," he added. He also said he would accept challenges. He said the university must offer quality education to students, which should be relevant to the modern industry and the graduates could be absorbed in the practical field readily. Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has named Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan as the university's registrar.
