British High Commissioner calls on Nawaz Sharif

04 Jan, 2008

British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley called on Pakistan Muslim League (N) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif at his residence on Thursday. According to details, the two leaders exchanged views about various issues including current situation, delay of the general elections and investigations into assassination of slain chairperson of Pakistan People's Party Benazir Bhutto.
On this occasion, British High Commissioner pointed out that the international community wanted holding of free and fair elections in Pakistan for promoting of democracy.
Nawaz Sharif noted that not the holding of free and fair elections, nor independence investigations into martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto are possible in the presence of the present rulers as they would interfere in it. He said the holding of transparent elections is not possible as it was postponed to support the king party, adding that the PML-Q could not win ten seats, if free and fair polls are held as the masses knew the evidence.
