Body set up to take steps for lifting EU ban on seafood

The caretaker Prime Minister Mianmuhammed Soomro has formed a committee to prepare a comprehensive plan to take all the necessary steps for lifting the EU ban on the country's seafood.
According to a press release issued here on Thursday said that the proposed committee will comprise Tariq Ikram, Minister of State and chief executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDA) as a convenor.
The other members are secretary Minfal, chief secretary Sindh and additional secretary finance. This decision was taken in a meeting held in Islamabad. The primary objective of the committee is to chalk out a plan to consult with all the stakeholders for ending the country's export ban to EU countries, within three months. The committee will also undertake a comprehensive study to resolve the management issues to run the Karachi fish harbour in an effective manner in line with the EU's recommendations to stop the leakages, if any, in the revenues being allocated.-PR
