Despite a minor decline in the international gold price, the local market on Friday stayed at the record peak level of Rs 16,885 per 10 grams, said the traders. They said that the international price of gold on Friday downed by 2.1 dollars an ounce, the precious metal maintained its historic peak status of Rs 16,885 per 10 grams in the local market.
Similarly, gold per tola price remained unchanged and was quoted at Rs 19,700, also a record high. The international market traded the gold at 862.90 dollars per ounce, which was on Thursday available at 865 dollars an ounce, they added. Silver also retained the new record peak of Rs 350 per tola in the Friday's trading. It was traded at Rs 300 per 10 grams in the domestic market.
This slight decline in the gold price was expected to take place as a part of a daily trading, they said, and opined that 900 dollars an ounce mark was going to be set as a new record level. They, however, said that local market would be influenced by the world market surge.
