Rs 51,000 realised from shopkeepers as fine

An amount of Rs 51,000 was realised as fines from 15 shopkeepers and three shopkeepers were awarded 7 days imprisonment each by the DDO(R) City Mehmud Aslam Wazir, here, during a crackdown launched against profiteers, particularly those involved in selling flour at exorbitant prices.
The campaign launched on instructions of DCO Major Azam Seuleman Khan (Retd), the DDO(R) City conducted raids in different city areas including Sanatpura, Partabnagar, Harcharnpura, Bakar Mandi, Saifabad, Rashidabad, Nematabad, Jhang road and other areas where he conducted raids against a number of shopkeepers, flour dealers and store owners etc.
According to details, Shabir Jamal of Nematabad, M Shoib of Harcharnpura, Abdul Latif, M Shahbaz, Tehsil Anwar, Yasir, Sattar and Hamad of Jhang Road, Shahzad of Partabnagar, M Shoib of Rashidabad and Ramzan of Nemat Colony were fined on charge of overcharging and a total of Rs 51000/ was realised from them as fine money.
Moreover, three shopkeepers Adil Shehzad of Sanatpura, Liaqat Ali of Rashidabad and M Shakeel of Saifabad were awarded 7 days imprisonment each for selling flour at exorbitant rates.
DDO(R) City Mehmud Aslam Wazir has said that the price control committee raids would continue with full force. He has asked the traders and shopkeepers to avoid overcharging and has warned that those found indulged in profiteering and other malpractice's would be dealt with an iron hand.
