The Nazim, City District Government Karachi (CDGK), Syed Mustafa Kamal has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the city government departments issued directives for strict action against officials showing lethargy and not taking immediate action on public complaints.
He ordered the officers to check occupation of government land by the mafia. Kamal called for early completion of city government's under-construction blood bank, which has a capacity of storing 500 blood bottles. Addressing the departmental review meetings of the EDOs at Civic Centre on Saturday, he pointed out that people's complaints against all CDGK departments have become common feature, as officials and staff are mostly absent from their offices and people, as a result don't get response to their complaints.
He observed that departmental complaint centre set up at the ground floor of Civic Centre are also not functional and immediate headway is not being made in work because of inattentive staff. Therefore, he decided to strictly check their manners.
The nazim Karachi directed all the EDOs and departmental heads to activate their respective departments within a period of one month by creating a culture of work in their respective departments. He ordered that all officials should come to office on time, follow decorum of time and duty.
He warned them to mend their work-manner within the stipulated time of one month. Further, Kamal encouraged efficient staff members to solve people's problem reported through complaints. Kamal also asked to fire contractor or consultant not working properly with immediate effect,
Furthermore, he directed the DCO Javed Hanif to personally review the performance of all the departments so as to improve the performance of the officials. " It is better to start the concept of saza and jaza" and incompetent officials should not be tolerated anymore. He stressed further activating the working of the zonal offices in order to solve people's problems immediately.
