Speakers condemn assassination of Benazir

Speakers at a programme titled "Assassination of Benazir Bhutto: Causes, Ramifications and Challenges" condemned the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and expressed solidarity with her family, party and the people.
Center for Peace and Civil Society (CPCS) organised the forum at Hyderabad Press Club. Prominent jurists, lawyers, nationalist leaders and civil society representatives including former justice Wajihuddin Ahmed, Sindh University Vice- Chancellor Mazhar-ul- Haq Siddiqui, Awami Tehreek Chief Rasool Bux Palejo, Balochistan National Party leader Kachkol Ali, National Workers Party leader Yusuf Masti Khan, Sindh National Congress leader Hussein Bux Thebo, Akhtar Hussein advocate, CPCS Executive Director Jami Chandio, intellectuals Rahat Saeed, Amar Sindhu, Zulfikar Qadir, Anees Haroon, Atiya Dawood of Women Action Forum and others delivered their speeches.
In resolutions, the forum condemned assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto saying that it has caused a great political and emotional loss to the people of Pakistan.
The forum called for unmasking the culprits behind the assassination of Ms Bhutto.
Addressing the forum, former Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed said the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto was the biggest tragedy for the country. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto was a setback to democracy and democratic struggle, he further said.
He asked the investigators to take all care in probing the matter so as to unearth the real hands behind this heinous crime. He dispelled the impression that the country is heading towards disintegration. However, he called for striving to heal the wounds for a prosperous future of the country.
