Chief secretary seeks report on flour shortage

Sindh Chief Secretary, Fazal-ur-Rehman has sought report from Provincial Secretary Food about the steps taken to check the increase in price of flour and making its stock to create artificial shortage of the commodity.
Taking note of the press reports suggesting flour crisis and profiteering by traders, he ordered immediate corrective measures in this regard. According to official statement here Sunday , the Chief Secretary also sought a report on the complaints by some transporters that they were not provided required protection during the violence after the killing of Benazir Bhutto.
Taking note of a news report in Daily Kawish , the CS has asked the Regional Police Officer Hyderabad to explain about the alleged misbehaviour of police with group of journalists associated with this daily during the violence after death of Benazir.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary has ordered the Provincial Home Secretary and the Provincial Police Officer (PPO) to ensure security of stations and the railway bridges in Sindh for smooth railway operations. Such instructions were issued in response to the directives from the Prime Minister's Secretariat against an application of Pakistan Railways.
