PIAF flays policy-makers

07 Jan, 2008

Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) Chairman Mian Abuzar Shad has severely criticised the policy-makers who, he said, have failed to give proper guidelines to the concerned government departments in the wake of assassination of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto and resultant political uncertainty in the country.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the PIAF chairman while commenting on the SBP quarterly report said it showed that the economy would heavily suffer if no attention was paid towards fast going down exports and to control inflation. He said that inflationary pressure is increasing with every passing day and is earning a bad name for those who are at the helm of affairs.
Mian Abuzar Shad was of the view that all the political parties should sit together so that a viable solution to the deteriorating economic situation could be found out.
The PIAF Chairman also said that shortage of electricity and gas are big contributors to deterioration in the economic indicators and if the government wants an improvement, it would have to look into these areas as well.
