Pakistan Muslim League central leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that Nawaz Sharif wanted to become Amirul Momineen through Shariat Bill and if the same was passed, the democratic process would have stopped for all times to come.
While addressing a corner meeting in NA-123 here on Sunday, he said Nawaz was saying that the country could not afford one man show, but through Shariat Bill, he himself wanted to be a 'King' and he not only tried to hoodwink the democracy but Shariat also. He said one thing is clear that people of Pakistan want Quaid-e-Azam's Pakistan instead of Zardari's Surrey Palace, adding that in 1946, people voted for Quaid's Pakistan and in the upcoming general elections they will once again decide for the same Pakistan.
"Sindhi Zardari has given franchise to Zardari Junior (Shahbaz Sharif) to start a nefarious campaign against the candidates of PML and by burning the offices and banners of PML candidates," he alleged. He said both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif have no right to use the name of Muslim League as they have made it the offshoot of PPP by putting it in the lap of Asif Zardari.
He said the centre of PML politics is the development of the country and prosperity of people of Pakistan and his party never indulged in politics of revenge or political victimisation. He expressed the confidence that with the grace of Almighty God, the PML will form strong governments in all the four provinces, besides in the Centre.
He said if people want to see a government who could provide basic amenities at their door steps, they should vote for bicycle so that the process of development is continued. He said he was unable to understand as to why Nawaz Sharif was talking of Federation while during his tenure as prime minister he did not take any step to strengthen it. He said his party was the only party which had its roots in all the provinces and believed in nationalism.
