Senegal targets 5.4 percent growth in 2008

Senegal targets a further pick-up in economic growth to 5.4 percent this year from around 5.0 percent in 2007, the West African country's prime minister said.
"I would like to point out the revival in our economy with real GDP growth of 5 percent in 2007 after the weak performance of 2.1 percent in 2006," Prime Minister Cheikh Hadjibou Soumare said during a weekend debate. "Growth for 2008 is forecast at 5.4 percent," he said, without giving further details.
