Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro said Monday that performance of the government is directly related to efficiency and productivity of the government servants, who are responsible for implementation of the national policies. He was chairing a meeting to review the progress of National Commission for Government Reforms, (NCGR).
He said capabilities and the quality of the civil services, can be further enhanced through capacity building programmes and by introduction of E-Governance. The NCGR is headed by former governor of the State Bank Dr Ishrat Hussain.
The Prime Minister also emphasised on improving prospects for the civil servants to ensure better output, which would add to good governance. He appreciated the work so far done by the NCGR adding it could help improve government functioning.
Earlier Dr Ishrat Hussain gave a presentation of the main features of the findings of the commission. He outlined the objectives of the reforms, scope of reforms, methodology and the progress made by the Commission. The meeting was also attended by concerned senior federal secretaries.
