District Nazim Badin Ali Anwar Halepota has expressed dissatisfaction over the law and order situation in the district and held police responsible for it.
Addressing district officers at Darbar Hall on Tuesday, Halepota observed that the police showed irresponsibility in maintaining law and order after the assassination of Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi on December 27, after which the government and private properties were attacked.
He said DDOs and Mukhtiarkars, despite having magisterial powers, did not use them, adding that had they performed their duties with utmost responsibility to maintain law and order, the large-scale loss would have been averted. The police had lost confidence of masses and to restore the same, it should work with sincerity and devotion, he added.
