Rains brighten prospects of good wheat crop

Widespread rains in Azad Kashmir, Northern Areas, NWFP, Punjab and Balochistan have saved wheat crop in the water-deficient arid zones and brightened prospects of a good wheat crop this season. Meteorological department reported on Tuesday rain/thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills in most parts of the country during past 24 hours.
Chief amounts of snow & rainfall (mm) during last 24 hrs: Pattan-64, Chitral-56, Drosh-49, Balakot-45, Malamjaba-40, Muzaffarabad-38, Murree-38, Garidupata-37, Saidusharif-36, Abbotabad-30, Dir-28, Kotli-24, MB Din-22, Rawalpindi-19, Jhelum-17, Rawalakot-16, Islamabad-16, Parachinar-16, Peshawar-11, Astore-10, Astore-09, Lahore-09 and Sargodha-09. Met Office forecast snowfall, at times heavy, over the hills expected in most parts of the country. However, some parts of Balochistan are expected to be dry.
