'Rain doesn't harm cotton fields'

Experts have called upon farmers to halt irrigating cotton fields this week as there is rain forecast in the district for the next three to four days. Assistant Director Fruit and Vegetable Project RYK, Imtiaz Ahmed said here while talking to APP on Wednesday. "Rain does not harm the standing crops in winters.
However, the fields are already wet and further rain can damage the crops." He observed that the rains this week have greatly benefited wheat and other crops as water was direly needed in the wake of canal closure.
