Fire broke out in a residential building in PECHS Society, which was put out without any major loss of life or property here on Saturday. A resident of house number 33-E, Yasin, informed the fire brigade about the fire and told that some people were stranded on two floors of the building.
The call was received at 5:34am and a snorkel and two fire tenders were rushed to the scene, fire brigade's spokesman said. The snorkel evacuated eight trapped inmates including four women, of them two disabled, from first and second floors of the burning building. A worker of factory situated at the ground floor of building fainted due to dense smoke, and was rushed to hospital.
The area police and KESC staff also rushed the spot, while rangers were also alerted for help. The fire fighters extinguished the fire in one-and-half-hour. Official confirmed that the fire was caused by an electric short circuit.
