Shopkeepers, flour mills fined for overcharging

The Special Judicial Magistrate in operation against the flour hoarders and profiteers has fined 132 shopkeepers, chakkis and flour mills on charges of selling atta at high price and hoarding.
On a directive of the Executive Officer, Revenue, the Magistrate raided various areas of the district and fined 132 shopkeepers, chakkis and flourmills of Rs 2, 74,500 and warned them of arrest in case they found involved in the practice again.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Zila Nazim's Secretariat said that the district government was making all out efforts to control the prices of all essential commodities including flour. He said that food department has been asked to ensure the availability of wheat at mills and chakkis in time.
He said that District Nazim Hyderabad has formed committees comprising the elected representatives and concerned officials to keep close vigilance on required availability of flour besides controlling flour prices at the market.
He said that the teams have raided various flourmills and shops fined hundreds of rupees from shopkeepers involved found active in hoarding and selling flour at high price.
