A Mehfil-e-Salam was arranged by Punjab Institute of Language Art & Culture (Pilac), to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain here on Saturday. Prominent Punjabi poets participated in the Mehfil, which was presided over by well-known poet and critic Akhtar Imam Rizvi.
Punjab Secretary Information Muhammad Ashfaq Gondal, Deputy Secretary Atta Ullah Siddiqui and renowned poet Saleem Kashir were the chief guests. Secretary Information Muhammad Ashfaq Gondal paid tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain and said that he laid down his life for the survival of Islam and his supreme sacrifice would be remembered by the Muslims forever. He also appreciated the role of Punjab Institute of Language, Art & Culture for organising the Mehfil.
Those who participated in the Mehfil included Aslam Kolsari, Dr Ajmal Niazi, Hussain Shad, Iqbal Dewana, Saleem Tahir, Ramzan Shakir, Akhlaque Atif, Tariq Zaidi, Neelma Naheed Durrani, Rakhshinda Naveed, Ibrar Nadeem, Imran Naqvi, Syed Mazhar-ul-Ajaib Kazmi, Sultan Mahmood and Khaqan Haider Ghazi.
