LHCBA hunger strike camp continues

The hunger strike camp of the Lahore High Court Bar Association against termination of judges of the higher courts continued here on Monday till 2am. The office bearers of the bar and number of senior bar members sat in the camp. A number of political party workers, civil society members also joined the camp and expressed solidarity with the lawyers in their struggle.
Former Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council Hafiz Abdur Ansari, Secretary bar Sarfraz and other senior bar members addressed the bar members gathered in the camp. The speakers said President Musharraf had terminated the judges only to undermine the judiciary and to threaten the bar.
They said now government want to get vacate the residence of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry but lawyers would not allow the government to expel him. They said the election commission and the judges who had taken oath under PCO are working for the government.
They said lawyers who are in struggle for rule of law and protection of fundamental rights would continue their struggle till the reinstatement of the judges and independence of the judiciary. They asked the political parties and people from all walks of live to join and strengthen their struggle.
