The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) police have tightened the security to protect the foreigners including the Chinese engineers who are working on various mega projects.
Foreigners are working on Mangla Dam raising project, Neelam-Jhelum Hydroelectric project and the ERRA-sponsored Muzaffarabad City Development Project, said the Inspector General, AJK Police, Faheem Ahmed Abbasi. While talking to APP on telephone here Monday the AJK police chief said the required police force has been deputed on the request of Wapda and ERRA to ensure strict safety and security of the foreign experts.
He said that over 1500 Chinese engineers and support staff will be engaged on these three projects. Abbasi said complete peace and order exists in AJK, but in view of the recent violent incidents of terrorism and subversion, reported from different parts of the country, the security has been intensified for the safety of all foreign nationals.
The AJK police chief said that police was keeping a close watch to discourage and frustrate any unlawful activity of terrorism and subversion in any part of the AJK. He said that checking of all sorts of vehicular traffic coming into all the AJK districts has also been further intensified through setting up police posts at all the entry points leading to the AJK's major cities.
