15,000 employees provided IT training

As many as 15,000 employees from Grade five to 20 have been provided with the IT training. This was stated by Caretaker Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Jam Karam Ali. He was addressing a news conference in his office here on Tuesday. The Minister said that this training was imparted in the province's various cities and towns.
He stated that 40 IT awareness centres have been established in the province's 23 districts. Such centres were also set up in the City District Government Karachi as well. Jam Karam maintained that these IT awareness centres are being run successfully. He said that a project of Hospital Management Information System has been initiated at the Civil Hospital Karachi on which a sum of Rs 137 million would be spent.
Under this project, the major hospitals of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana etc would also be linked. The Minister also stated that the project would create 400 job opportunities.
A sum of Rs 70 million has been allocated for the year 2007-08, he added. Jam Karam Ali termed this an important project which would help enhance the efficiency of the police and help bring down the crime rate.
