19 Jan, 2008

A security plan is being chalked out for foreign and local oil drilling and exploration companies in the country. According to official sources, Petroleum Ministry in collaboration with Interior Ministry has been working on a foolproof security plan for oil drilling, exploration and production companies.
Sources said that officials of the Petroleum Ministry also held a meeting with the representatives of foreign and local exploration firms, oil marketing and drilling companies to listen their concerns and briefed them about the proposed security plan. It has been learnt that many drilling companies have either stopped or restricted their work owing to security reasons.
Sources said that suggestions of oil companies and their security advisers would be discussed with the interior ministry and a final security plan would be approved to the satisfaction of the companies. The plan would grade various regions according to their risk profiles. The country would be distributed into high, medium and low risk zones and security arrangements would be finalised as per the level of threat in a particular area.
