Wife of Qutubuddin Aziz laid to rest

Begum Abida Aziz, wife of former diplomat and veteran editor Qutubuddin Aziz, and daughter-in-law of Begum Syed Khurshid Abdul Hafiz, Chairman UPP and President Women's Refugee Rehabilitation Association, was laid to rest here at Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard on Friday. Earlier, funeral prayer of the deceased was offered at a mosque in Clifton.
The funeral prayer was attended among others by Chief Justice Federal Sharait Court Syed Haziqul Khairi, Deputy Secretary General of the Motamare Alame Islami, Mir Nawaz Khan Marwat, ex test cricketer, Iqbal Qasim, Sindh Information Secretary Fasihuddin Khan, Director General Sindh Information Ishrat Hussain, Director Press of Sindh Information S.M. Iqbal, Abdul Qadir Jaffer, Abdul Wahab Jaffer, Gulfaraz A. Khan, former Olympian Islahuddin, Asadullah Khan, Samiullah Khan, G.R. Arshad, Director Business Recorder Arshad Zuberi, Editor Daily News, S.M. Fazal, Editor, Millat Inquilab Matri, Yasin Teli, Engineer Aziz Ahmed, Jalees Salasil, President Muslim Press Promotion Bureau, Qutubuddin Ahmed, Afsar Saeed Khan, vice Admiral Lodhi, Editor Aghaz Anwer Farooqui, former APNS president Iqbal Manjal, Rashid Baluch, Rashid Chaudhry, Zakir Ali Khan and former provincial information advisor Salahuddin Haider. Later they offered condolence with Qutubuddin Aziz and also extended their sympathies to younger brothers Mahmudul Aziz and Khalidul Aziz.
It may be mentioned that Begum Abida Aziz died of cardiac arrest after prolong illness in Karachi on January 16, 20o8. As her son, Farhan Aziz and daughters Fariha and Anila were abroad, the burial was delayed so that they joined the final rites of their mothers. The soyem of deceased will be held Saturday.
